Tips for Brides to Make Bridesmaids Beautiful and Happy

Throwing a wedding is expensive, but being a bridesmaid is no walk in the park either. Did you know that, on average, your besties will drop close to $1700 just to be in your wedding? Pretty crazy, right? Between bachelorette party expenses, affordable bridesmaid dresses and shower gifts, things can really start to add up if you aren’t careful. Because you definitely don’t want to be that girl that makes her girls go into debt over your big day, we asked wedding planner Amy Kaneko of Posh+Folk to share her tips on how to avoid bankrupting your bridesmaids.

Let them choose their own dresses (or rent them)
Yes, you can still give them some guidelines, like color, fabric and length. But if your besties can’t afford a $400 designer dress, they can still find one you’ll love in a price point they’ll love even more. In eDressit, bridesmaid dresses with high quality always under $150, even $100. Either that, or pick your favorite frock and have them rent it for way less than retail price (a win-win for everybody)!

Don’t force them to buy matching accessories
It’s one thing to gift these items. However, it’s a whole other to expect your bridesmaids to go out and buy matching shoes and accessories. The twinning look is so yesterday anyway, y’all! “Set a style and color palette for them to work within, and let your girls wear something they already own.” Any friend of yours will have a killer sense of style, duh. Current prom dress online is also stylish.

Pay for their hair and makeup
Because it’s hard out here for a bridesmaid! Seriously though, it’s not easy on the wallet when your ladies have to pay for their hair, makeup, manis, pedis and all those big day beauty items, points out Kaneko. “Make it a no-pressure situation by allowing your bridesmaids to do their own makeup and giving them some leeway with their hairstyle.” If it’s really important to you that they’re perfectly coiffed, then do the right thing and foot the bill.

It is not so easy to make an affordable but meaningful wedding. You need to consider everything, but avoid any useless works. If need help, turn to eDressit. Dresses there for bridesmaids are really stunning.
